Many precision components used in modern medicine have sharp cutting edges. Until now, grinding tools were the main method used to realise these edges.
Our application engineers have now developed a process that makes it possible to produce sharp edges exclusively using femtosecond lasers.
In addition, the fully automated process combines several processing steps and therefore allows cutting to length, creating cutting edges, marking and structuring in a single clamping operation, which reduces the production time many times over.
How it works our colleagues discussed with the editor-in-chief of ‘medizin&technik’ for the 06.2024 issue: https://medizin-und-technik.industrie.de/technik/fertigung/laser-fuer-alle-aufgaben-sogar-fuer-das-schleifen/
