Many precision components used in modern medicine have sharp cutting edges. Until now, grinding tools have been the main method used to produce these edges.
Our application engineers have now developed a process that makes it possible to produce the sharp edges exclusively using femtosecond lasers.
In addition, the fully automatic process combines several processing steps and therefore allows cutting to length, creating cut edges, marking and structuring in a single clamping operation, which reduces the production time many times over.
Our colleagues discussed exactly how this works with the editor-in-chief of “medizin&technik” for issue 06.2024: https://medizin-und-technik.industrie.de/technik/fertigung/laser-fuer-alle-aufgaben-sogar-fuer-das-schleifen/
